  1. Thank you Chad — a vivid way to put my own crucial challenge as an academic writing for a non-academic readership.

    The captive audience of the classroom, and the kinds of writing academics do for each other tip the balance toward that abstract tip of the pyramid. I know that If I can flip it I’ll be a better teacher as well as a better writer.

    (And the academic writing that really helps academics follows your advice too! Maybe we just favor the abstract out of ignorance or laziness. Hmm…)
